Read: Moving Forward Into Globe Mills: 7-01-2008

Tuesday, July 1, 2008 @10:40 PM ~ Thanks Sister Linda ~

I am looking forward to moving into the Globe Mills Senior Housing building and should do so within a couple of weeks.

Fortunately, I already know and am close to the Property Manager who is really cool and compassionate. I hope to be a real helper there with the other tenants. Remember I was a Certified Nurse Assistant before with the Sutter Oaks Alzheimer's Center some years back. Being 56 yearsI am one of the younger ones in the project in comparison. A tenant must be at least 55-years old:

Yes, it has been a long time since I had my own place. My last one was when I moved out of Mather Community Campus into that one bedroom apartment by the Flame Club on 16th Street with my so-called wife Sheila, who abandoned ship after I started drinking booze again.

I have been in this nice house with a fireplaces for a few years with who I refer to as Cousin Mark. The house here is inn foreclosure. Cousin Mark is actually an old friend who has been a recovery partner for me in all this with over 12 years sobriety. He is taking it well and is strong in his recovery.

We have gotten pretty close, though we each do our own thing. It is god and different knowing someone in our drunkenness, then in our later sobriety. He plans to eventually move to San Francisco, but I do not want to make that move until I have a larger income to pay for the living expenses.

One must be a practical realist in life in order to do well and succeed in this war of life.

I plan to do my regular day job, then focus with greater concentration on my writing. Mom told me that with my writing I could write my own ticket.

I have learned the hard way the power of being driven by my dreams, motivated by love and realizing that if it is to be it is up to me.

Judge me not from the heights to which I have risen, but rather from the low depths from which I have climbed.

Brother Roberto is still sober and has a few days now... again. It was tough for him, but at least he has a hotel room to relax in. A lot better than I had it when I was homeless sleeping in the bushes some years back.

It was kind of a struggle for me with his wanting to get back into Sally's because being my blood brother I could not and cannot show favoritism. The others on the Waiting List need to call in as he does to stay on the List during the week. He thought I would just pull a string and slide him right in, but as I have said before, he needs to do it on his own without my help. Plus, he never told me when he was locked up that he wanted to come in. One should not lightly assume such matters. He has other resources he has not explored. At least he has a income with his SSI check, an advantage many do not have. He will be more thankful and thoughtful once he gets in IF he stays on the beam. If he screws up he will get the boot the same as anyone else.
