Checkin' In: Sabbath, April 12, 2008

My cell phone alarm went on @6:00 PM. I got up, took a shower and decided to shave my growing beard. I had a gotten a new triple blade shaver. Marcos had a Vet Clinic today, dropped me off by Sally's and I did my morning workshops. I took the liberty of showing Deepak Chopra's The Seven Laws Of Spiritual Success and as usual it went well.

I am convinced that the root cause of homelessness involves homeless people having low or no self-esteem in terms of self-love, self-respect and self-confidence.

After work Mama Kay came by and took Brother Manny G. and I to the A.A. Meeting in Cameron Park where the A.A. All Tribes Group did a Speaker's Meeting that was well attended by locals and some of us from Sacramento. It was a great meeting, Brother Joe H. did a great testimony and it was nice being up there. Brother Toro, Arcadio and another brother from Sally's drove up too in Toro's van. Plus, Marcos and others drove up and it was a good showing for Sacramento.

Mama Kay and I had time to have a good conversations driving up there and back. I listened a lot and am learning more about the power of listening along the therapeutic power of simply listening to others.

There is so much to learn, especially learn from others and I am getting deeper in my understanding of people. So much of it is so easy once we get out of the way when we are listening to others and just listen to them without interruption or feeling that we have to have the last word, or say the wise saying or always have to be teaching. A good teacher is a pointer and a good educator loves being educated by others, even if it is about the simple yet significant issues going on in the lives of others.
