Peta at Front Desk=Jueves

It is a quiet Saturday here at the house. Cousin Mark is going to make his usual breakfast for us, which is usually eggs and chorizo. He recently scored an old style heavy iron skillet from the SPCA Thrift Store on E Street.

My rent for my room here is $425, plus this month is was $72 dollars more to cover my third of the utilities. Sometimes the juice goes out in this room, which can be a real bummer, especially when I look an essay I am working on, though Windows will generally do a recover of the document.

I generally enjoy living here, like the surrounding area which has a suburban flair to it and the neighbors seem to be middle-class in origin, though they are not unduly friendly and mostly 'gringos'. I imagine someday people will not even notice 'race' matters when we all see ourselves as being of the same species of the human race, but not today!

Work goes well. It is what it is. Our basic human needs always overwhelm our housing resources. I mainly just enjoy working with our homeless people at the Salvation Army 'Center of Hope' and making a positive difference in the lives of people on a daily basis.

This evening at 7 PM I conduct our CASA 12-Steps Meeting and will be presenting my latest article On Unity In the Recovery Community!

Later... Cousin Mark made his usual great breakfast. Him and I have gone far in life since those times years ago. wandering lost, crashing in an abandoned house and being enslaved by the craving dope-fiend mind.

We have been trutly blessed to just be alive, to of helped so many people and being able to continue helping people. We have won, but every day is a fresh battle!

neurotransmitter
Encyclopædia Britannica Article

... also called chemical transmitter , or transmitter substance any of a group of chemical agents released by neurons (nerve cells) to stimulate neighbouring neurons, thus allowing impulses to be passed from one cell to the next throughout the nervous system.

The site where neurons meet is called the synapse and consists of the axon terminal (transmitting end) of one cell and the dendrite (receiving end) of the next. A microscopic gap called a synaptic cleft exists between the neurons. When a nerve impulse arrives at the axon terminal of one neuron, a chemical substance is released through the presynaptic membrane, traveling in milliseconds across the synaptic cleft to the postsynaptic membrane of the adjoining neuron. The chemical release is stimulated by the electrical activity of the neuron.

Although a large number of chemical substances are believed to act as neurotransmitters, only a few have been identified. Among those known are acetylcholine, norepinephrine (noradrenalin), dopamine, and serotonin. Some chemical agents, such as acetylcholine, activate neurons, while others act as inhibiting substances.

I have What the Bleep Do We Know: The Quantum Version on my DVD Player, which reinforces and amplifies a lot of my personal knowledge about stuff.

I suppose I will enjoy the luxury of a little nap before I get ready to leave here, catch the bus and head out for my CASA Meeting that begins at 7 PM.
